Elder Abuse Awareness Day - 15 June 2010

Following our programme action for this year around dignity in care, Soroptimists in Rugby are holding an Elder Abuse Awareness Day at the Age Concern Claremont centre on Clifton Road in Rugby.  We have invited pupils from Lawrence Sherrif school in Rugby to entertain the elderly guests  with their band while Soroptimists will be serving tea and home made cakes.
Elder Abuse is a very much forgotten or hidden in our society.  Latest reserch shows that about 9% of elderly people suffer abuse from people they know or who care for them.  This is an opportunity to voice our concern and opposition to the mistreatment of elderly people and come together to raise awareness of the issues.  Join us on the 15th or donate a cake to be served up on the occassion.
