DAY ONE

My first day as President.  Feels weird as I've been a Soroptimist for nearly five years. I remember four and a half (!) presidents...I joined during Sherrie's year and seen four other presidents since...Nanette, Margaret, Jenny,  and Ishar.  I keep looking at my chains of office...are they REAL???

The AGM went well I thought even though I was poorly and very tired.  Hopefully my address and the short film on Dignity in Care gave fellow Soroptomists some food for thought.  I want this to be a memorable year where we achieve more than we ever thought possible!  Aim high I say and you'll fall somewhere near your target.

Our biggest challenge is recruitment of new members. It's going to have to be a team effort and I suggest that every contact with the world outside Soroptimism should be an opportunity to showcase what we do and how much fun we have.  If we are happy and united amongst ourselves other women will want to be in on this club and join us.

I loved the cards especially the one on the right above  which I have received wishing me good luck and thank everyone for their lovely kind thoughts. It was a great start yesterday and feel very much supported and encouraged.  The real work begins next week with our first business meeting!

On the Eve of the AGM

On Wednesday is our Soroptimist International Rugby 72nd AGM.  I am finally going to be taking the chains of office from our current president Ishar.  I cannot beleive how quickly this last year has passed - it scarcely seems yesterday when I thought "let's go for it!" and offered my services as Vice President.

All the hard work of planning this year is now done and I have only the diary to produce and see the year unfold!  When I started I thought I wouldn't have enough to do and not enough events and speakers.... however, quite the contrary because once I started there was no stopping and it then became a process of "what can I leave out? - I really want to do it all!".  And there's only a year!!!

I'd like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who encouraged me and guided me and gave me confidence and good advice.  It's of course a team effort and I know it's going to be a great year! Watch this space!
